OAA Kolkata in a new sphere

| 26th May, The Outdoor Advertising Association, Kolkata had its 40th AGM & general elections of Governing Body at DKS, Desopriyo Park. Out of 126 Media Owners, 90 members took part in the AGM. The following important resolution & amendment was made amongst many others.
• That OAA shall propose any of The Cabinet Minister of West Bengal, or Mayor of Kolkata or any eminent person, to chair the 'Chief Patron' of the Association.
• That OAA would be re- named as 'OAA West Bengal' & it would act as the central committee for all Outdoor advertising matters in the state of West Bengal.
• It was also agreed by the members that the tenure of the elected body would be for a period of 3 years. An additional post of 'Chairman' was created to monitor the functions of the Governing Body.
• Nirmal Thakur, Ex-Secretary of OAA, shall be the spoke person for OAA West Bengal.
After the AGM, the members elected the new governing body through ballot. Finally, 20 nominations was filed for 15 Posts.

Pulak Chowdhury, Secretary, OAA, said, "The first initiative of the new body shall be to hold a meeting with all the Ad Agencies those who are doing business in Kolkata. We would request them to avoid doing business with the Non-members for the greater interest of our Trade. This would help us to get control over the trade disputes & to bring discipline in the trade. It would also encourage the non-members to be associate with OAA, thus we can form a much stronger platform for all."

Ashif Biswas, Treasurer of OAA, said, "The Association would send the list of its members to various Govt. Authorities & would appeal to favor its members during 'allotments' of OOH Media Assets. We would soon launch a website for OAA West Bengal"
Kesto Saha, President of OAA, requested “all members to maintain a congenial and peaceful atmosphere, which should be in keeping with the tradition and reputation of our beloved Association."

The member District associations which had participated in the AGM are Hooghly, Howrah & N 24 PGS. Association.
The main objectives of the newly elected body would be:
• To safe guard the "private ooh assets" of its members.
• To check the credit policies.
• To stop the construction of illegal sites.
• To pursue with the Govt. Departments regarding outdoor issues.
• To help the authorities for drive against illegal sites.
• To bring democracy during allotment of "Govt. sites".
• To encourage the non-members to be associated with OAA Bengal.
The 40th AGM & General election for Governing body ended with Oath ceremony & vote of thanks to the Presidium.
